Pet relocation from the Philippines to South Korea

Seoul, Busan and Incheon — a popular route for families, with a government-endorsed health certificate and a rabies antibody test for pets from the Philippines.

The short answer

Dogs and cats entering South Korea need an ISO microchip, a rabies antibody test taken at least 30 days after the rabies vaccination, a health certificate endorsed by the Philippine government veterinarian, and a rabies antibody test for pets arriving from countries without controlled rabies status, which includes the Philippines. Documents are inspected on arrival, and an incomplete set can mean quarantine at the arrival station, so we verify every page before departure.

Requirements reviewed October 2026. Rules change — we confirm the current position for your route before anything is booked.

Requirements for South Korea

The steps below are the ones that decide your departure date. Everything else follows from them.

Microchip and vaccination

The microchip has to be readable and its number has to appear on the government certificate. The 30-day rule belongs to the antibody test, not to the flight date: the blood is drawn no sooner than 30 days after the rabies vaccination, and the result travels with the pet.

Rabies antibody test

Dogs and cats aged 90 days or more arriving from the Philippines need a result of 0.5 IU/ml or above, drawn no sooner than 30 days after the rabies vaccination and within 24 months of arrival; younger pets are exempt. We arrange the blood draw, the laboratory submission and the recorded result.

Government-endorsed health certificate

A licensed veterinarian issues the certificate and the Philippine government veterinarian endorses it. Korea checks that endorsement at the arrival airport.

Arrival inspection

Certificate, vaccination record, microchip and test result are checked on arrival. With a complete set the pet is released; without it the pet can be quarantined.

Answers

South Korea questions we get asked

If your question is not here, message us — the answer depends on your pet, not on a template.

Does my pet need quarantine when arriving in South Korea from the Philippines?

No. When the microchip, antibody result and government certificate are in order the pet is inspected and released the day it arrives. If the microchip does not match or the antibody result is missing, quarantine is extended at the owner's expense; without the government certificate the pet can be returned to the Philippines, so the paperwork matters more than the flight.

How long does the Philippines to Korea route take?

Two to four months depending on the vaccination date and whether an antibody test is required. The veterinary sequence sets the pace, and flight availability is rarely the constraint.
